Connecting Barksdale AFB with the State of Louisiana
The TRG team worked successfully to fund the initial investments for a new entrance gate and road at Barksdale AFB, to connect to a State and community funded interchange into the base. The State and local investment is substantial and meaningful, and will vastly improve traffic flow, safety, and security at Barksdale AFB. Adding the initial USAF investment, via the service’s unfunded priority list, and based on significant outreach and coordination with the White House, Congress, and with senior leaders inside the Air Force, allowed for the planning and design, and for the initiation of a program to begin. Ultimately, a connection will mean a successful collaboration, backed by significant investment, between the Air Force and the State of Louisiana.
Land Swap to Facilitate Relocation of Main Gate at Battle Creek
The current main gate for the Battle Creek Air National Guard (ANG) Base does not comply with anti-terrorism and force protection regulations. In order to build a new main gate, the community, the State of Michigan, the Air Force and National Guard Bureau needed to conduct a complicated land swap and relocation of an existing highway. The land swap was recently completed and the request for a $10 million military construction project to construct the new entrance has been submitted to Congress.
