Energy Assurance and Resilience at Joint Base Langley-Eustus

Energy resiliency is essential for adapting to our changing climate. TRG alerted Joint Base Langley-Eustis leadership about the opportunity to pursue energy resiliency solutions for the installation via the Air Force’s Office of Energy Assurance (OEA). Engagement with OEA, the Commonwealth’s representatives and Dominion Energy has evolved to a robust Energy Savings Performance Contract initiative to embrace various technologies for energy assurance.

Energy Resilience Conservation Investment Program (ERCIP)

The TRG team was tasked to support the Beale AFB defense community to compete for Energy Resilience Conservation Investment Program (ERCIP) funding to support a major power transmission interconnection program. This effort involved significant outreach at the Congressional, Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD), and Air Force levels, considering ERCIP candidates compete across each service. Significant analytical efforts and base visits among TRG’s energy experts helped to build a compelling case for advocacy at the highest levels inside OSD and the Air Force. The effort resulted in the largest ERCIP award among all services that year, to supply a 230/60KV interconnection and transmission system at Beale AFB, valued at $40.4 million dollars.
