Major General (Ret) Steve Neary recently retired with over 33 years of extensive executive leadership and operational management experience in complex organizations on five continents. Currently advising the transformation (strategy, governance, organization, resources, processes) of a Ministry of Defense. Specific strengths in National Security Strategy, Strategic Communications, Military Operations, NATO, Transformation, Crisis Response, Training, Assessments, Risk articulation, and Operations in the Information Environment. Extensive experience in generation, development, and management of requirements from the user level in Command during multiple combat tours, to representing the Marine Corps at the Pentagon on the Joint Requirements Board as part of the Joint Capabilities Integration and Development System (JCIDS) process.
During his last assignment in the Pentagon, Steve assessed the integration and prioritization of joint military capability needs, to meet national, military and defense strategies, considering alternatives to any acquisition program by evaluating military utility, assessing risk, cost, schedule and performance. In addition, as part of the Joint Warfighting Concept, he led a Joint Team to integrate information capabilities of space, cyber, electromagnetic spectrum, and conginitive activities for the Joint Force. Steve was the Commander Marine Forces Europe and Africa, Commander 2D Marine Expeditionary Brigade, Director of Training Joint Staff J7, Deputy Commandant of Capability, Development and Integtration, and a Base Commander in Japan.
