Milford H. Beagle, Jr., known as “Beags,” is a South Carolina native who has dedicated 35 years to public service.

Beags’ most recent leadership role was as the commanding general of the Army’s Combined Arms Center and Fort Leavenworth. There, he led the U.S. Army’s initiatives in professional development, education, and training, overseeing the education of over 200,000 individuals annually. He directed Army large-scale modernization and integration efforts that positively impacted 1.5 million personnel.

Throughout his career, Beags has held a variety of high-impact leadership and advisory roles, both in the United States and abroad, including assignments in Afghanistan, Iraq, and Korea. He has served as a strategic advisor at the Pentagon, supporting the personal staff of the Army’s Vice Chief of Staff. As a skilled operational and strategic planner, he has successfully addressed complex challenges in crisis management, organizational transformation, and risk mitigation.

Previously, as the commanding general of the Army’s 10th Mountain Division at Fort Drum, New York, Beags was responsible for a workforce of 20,000, ensuring their readiness for global operations on short notice.

Earlier in his career, Beags led the Army’s largest training center at Fort Jackson, South Carolina, where he was responsible for training over 10,000 new professionals each year. His leadership emphasized innovation, self-discipline, teamwork, and resilience—qualities essential for success in any field.

Beags is known for his practical, people-centered leadership style and his ability to guide organizations through uncertainty. A graduate of South Carolina State University, he holds a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice and earned his commission as an Infantry officer in 1990. He furthered his education with a Master of Science in Adult and Continuing Education from Kansas State University and a Master’s in Strategic Studies from the U.S. Army’s School of Advanced Military Studies. He is currently a doctoral student at Louisiana State University, Shreveport.
