Mr. Andrew Cox is dual-hatted as the Director, Space Warfighting Analysis Center (SWAC) and the Director, Space Security and Defense Program (SSDP), both headquartered in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

As the Director of the SWAC, Mr. Cox is responsible for developing the future force designs for the Space Force capabilities across all mission area. His responsibilities include the conduct of service war games and simulations to determine how the service will build and fight the future force.

Mr. Cox was assigned in July 2011 as the Director, Space Protection Program, and subsequently in March 2015 as Director, SSDP. He is responsible to the Deputy Secretary of Defense and Principal Deputy Director of National Intelligence for jointly focusing the Department of Defense and the Intelligence Community’s space survivability and protection efforts.

Prior to his current assignments, Mr. Cox was also dual-hatted as United States Space Command (USSPACECOM) Director, Capability and Resource Integration from January 2020 – September 2020. In that capacity, he was charged to validate requirements and resources for USSPACECOM mission capability needs and future concepts. Mr. Cox also served as Director, Communications Systems Directorate (COMM) at the National Reconnaissance Office (NRO) from December 2008 – July 2011. As COMM Director, Mr. Cox was responsible for the all communications satellite and terrestrial network systems acquisitions and operations within the NRO. Previously, Mr. Cox was the Deputy Program Executive Officer, Space Systems, providing acquisition oversight for Navy satellite programs.

Mr. Cox was selected as a member of the Senior Executive Service with the Department of the Navy in 2004 and served as Deputy PEO C4I and Space. He entered government service in 1997 at the Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command (SPAWAR), after working as a software programmer and integrator in the Defense industry.

Mr. Cox graduated well below his wife from Colgate University, and they have one daughter and one son, both of whom exhibit signs of their mother’s brilliance.
