Faiq Raza

Faiq Raza is a Senior Advisor at The Roosevelt Group, focusing on issues at the nexus of national security and Congressional affairs. Prior to joining The Roosevelt Group, Faiq was a Special Assistant at the Department of Defense, first as a direct report to the Assistant Secretary of the Army for Manpower & Reserve Affairs and then with the Department of Defense Office of Legislative Affairs where he focused on Acquisition & Sustainment issues.

Prior to his executive branch experience, Faiq spent nearly seven years on Capitol Hill where he served as a legislative staffer focusing on defense & foreign policy issues. Faiq served as Military Legislative Assistant to Sen. Gary Peters (D-MI), a Member of the Armed Services & Appropriations Committees, where he gained deep experience with the annual National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) process and successfully championed several initiatives which were adopted into law. Faiq also served as Military Legislative Assistant to Rep. Denny Heck (D-WA), where he handled all national security related matters for a Member of the House Intelligence Committee and prior to that role served as a Legislative Correspondent for Senate Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY).

Mr. Raza holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Rutgers University – New Brunswick. Faiq also served as a Rifleman in the United States Marine Corps Reserves and deployed to Afghanistan in support of Operation Freedom’s Sentinel.
